Does parenting feel like an impossible option right now? This is understandable! Whether you’re worried about how you will parent given your current circumstances, concerned about your finances, or wondering how to parent without support, your feelings are valid.
What feels overwhelming right now might one day become more manageable. And if you choose to parent, free resources are available to help you feel prepared and confident.
Is parenting right for me?
While only you can decide whether parenting is the right choice for you, asking yourself the following questions can help:
- What might my life look like if I choose to parent?
- How might I feel if I choose to parent? What if I don’t choose to parent?
- How can I accomplish my goals while parenting?
- What concerns me most about parenting?
- What questions do I have about parenting?
- What steps can I take to feel more prepared to parent?
These questions can give you a starting place to think about what parenting might look like. But sometimes, it helps to talk to someone who understands.
Here at Care Net Pregnancy Center of Paradise we are here to listen and if you choose to parent, we can also provide free resources to support you every step of the way.
Free Parenting Resources
Choosing to parent is a big decision, but you don’t have to do this alone. We understand what you’re going through and are here to help.
We believe you deserve to have what you need to parent successfully. This is why we offer:
- Free parenting and life skills courses. The more you know, the more you will feel prepared to parent confidently. Our parenting and life skills courses will help you know what to expect during pregnancy, give you practical tips for newborn care, and prepare you to manage life with a new family member. These courses are all earn-while-you-learn, meaning you can earn baby items while completing coursework.
- Community referrals. Do you need financial assistance for bills, groceries, or rent? Are you looking for safe, reliable housing or medical help? We’ve got you covered. While we don’t provide these services in-house, we can refer you to reputable resources in the community.
Parenting In School
Knowing you have federally protected rights is essential if you’re still in school and choose to parent. Under Title IX, you are protected from discrimination and entitled to pregnancy-related accommodations, including:
- Excused absences that are due to pregnancy or birth
- Reasonable adjustments, like a larger desk, more frequent bathroom trips, elevator access, etc.
- Homebound instruction
Be sure to let your school administrators know about your pregnancy as soon as you’re able so they can ensure your rights are protected.
